The Journey Of Seth Beamer Continues With A New Project.

From the early days of Red Fox Run to the recent foray with Wildermiss, Seth Beamer has always been an artist we admire. A new solo project has been his main priority as of late and we are excited to share his upcoming show tomorrow night at The Black Buzzard here in Denver. We often say talent grows from past projects and the ups-and-downs of learning We had a chance to hear some of Beamer’s new music and we can can certainly vouch for what he is about to release.

Seth Beamer is a Denver-based songwriter and all-around artist whose melodic musical style and lyrical transparency open a door into the universal. Characterized by a direct and genuine voice, Seth’s self-described genre is “Shameless Alt Indie.” A lifelong musician with an innate talent for playing by ear, Seth takes inspiration indiscriminately and can turn a half-heard melody into something completely new.

Seth’s style of musical composition, historically an ode to his deep appreciation of music theory, now moves away from principle and towards honest, renegade self-expression. Inspired by life’s trials, Seth’s most recent solo project applies varying influences—from jazz to pop and punk to indie—to produce songs that are at times candid and poignant and others uptempo and angsty.

Former founding member and guitarist of indie rock band, Wildermiss, Seth was also previously the bassist for local quartet Red Fox Run. During his tenure with his various Denver-grown bands, Seth has played at—and, more often than not, sold out—venues including the Bluebird Theater, Larimer Lounge, and Red Rocks. He has toured with national bands, The Oh Hellos, Jared & The Mill, and Bronze Radio Return; performed on the main stages at Westword Music Showcase and Underground Music Showcase, and was recognized as a winner of both 93.3’s Hometown for the Holidays and Big Gig. Seth has twice performed live on Last Call with Carson Daily.

With a mastery of instruments—piano, guitar, drums, and bass—a musical resume inclusive of competitive drumline, band, and percussion, and bachelor’s degrees in jazz bass and audio engineering, it is no surprise that Seth is a sought-after session player and performer. A member of or rotating regular in countless projects over the years, Seth has played with notable artists such as Rob Drabkin, Eldren, Brent Cowles, One Flew West, Andy Sydow, Lazer & Levi, Cristina Vane, and Pandas & People. Seth has had successful sync placements on MTV, Intuit QuickBooks advertisements, Colorado Tourism, Denver’s Covid-19 Stay-at-Home public service announcements, and the ever-popular Sesame Street.

Our good friends Wildermiss have been staying pretty active during this quarantine with a bunch of projects. And now they have raised the bar.

Denver’s indie rock favorites Wildermiss have come up with their own solution to the closure of their hometown’s beloved music venues- they’ll come to you. With the “safer at home” measures now officially in place for Colorado, the band has decided to put their entire stage set up on the back of a trailer and travel to fans houses to perform one to three song sets.

Wildermiss Literally On Demand” as it’s named, will take place this Friday May 15th between 1PM and 7PM. The four-piece were originally supposed to headline the Gothic Theatre this Friday, but like everyone in the music industry, they have had to creatively pivot to stay connected. Fans within the Denver metro area can goto wildermiss.com/ondemand to fill out a form and request to have the band come to them. All participants will follow local and statewide social distancing laws and wear cloth masks.

Wildermiss’ single “Supermagical”, the band’s first glimpse at new music since last year’s EP “In My Mind” is also being released this Friday on all streaming services.

They are headlining the Gothic Theatre on Saturday December 12th, 2020. Tickets HERE

Widermiss are a 4 piece indie rock band out of Denver fronted by Emma Cole with drums from Caleb Thoemke and guitars from Seth Beamer and Joshua Hester. The band has enjoyed success in their hometown and along the front range with multiple sold out theater shows, regular rotation on KTCL and KRXP and various local accolades.

This past Saturday we celebrated covering our tenth Westword Music Showcase and once again we had an amazing day celebrating some of the best national and local music right in the heart of The Golden Triangle. While the main stages were buzzing with some of the best national acts it was the neighborhood venues that provided for some of the best action of the day.

Roaming the streets of Broadway and Lincoln, we had a chance to take in amazing sets from The Hollow, Kayla Marque, The Velveteers, iZCALLI, Chella and The Charm, Lady Gang, The Corner Girls, Grayson County Burn Band, Florea, Blake Brown & The American Dust Choir, RL Cole & The Hell You Say and more. The main stages had us reeling with amazing sets from locals Wildermiss whose Hometown for The Holidays win gave them a chance to play main stage as has been the norm the past few years. Other notable sets came from Sunflower Bean, St. Lucia, Bonobo and Galantis who need the night.

The one day festival has continued to succeed by sticking to a simple formula and that is to provide some of the best Denver local acts along with some of the buzz bands on the national scene to provide a day full of musical bliss.

Wildermiss | Lost With You | Review

Denver local outfit Wildermiss has just released heir first EP and we have been waiting awhile to get our hands on it. The band consists of three former members of Red Fox Run (guitarists Joshua Hester and Seth Beamer and drummer Caleb Thoemke), the foursome is led by the soaring vocals of Emma Drae.

The first track Between Rooms has the silky smooth vocals of Emma Drae in perfect unison with what could easily be mistaken for an early The Strokes era guitar riff. It's catchy, it's fun and demands your respect.

The next track is one we have become familiar with Carry Your Heart has been circling the interwebs for a hot minute and will easily become a radio friendly hit. A definite country music influence on this one, Drae passionately sings the chorus of carry your heart with such a passion and conviction it makes you feel her pain.

Our favorite track Vivian starts off with an upbeat guitar riff straight out of the 80's. The drumbeat on this one stands out the most with influences ranging from new wave. This track would be perfect played in a dark cavernous hole in the wall venue while the locals dance with no regret.

The great thing about this album is the way it flows from song to song. On Keep It Simple, Drae channels her inner Ellie Goulding for an amazing song we can hear being a hit on the radio waves. This track has all the feels that makes us want to dance in front of the mirror from beginning to end.

Tunnel Vision is a love song that reminds us of the everyday struggles that a relationship may have with no mutual respect for either party. A darker song on the album, the song repeats the chorus of the song while making sure we get the meaning of the cry for help.

The final song Pieces is probably the best produced song on the album with an arena anthem feel. We picture a packed house holding up their lighters (iPhones) in unison making the crowd glow as the they sway back and forth. This song gives us a glimpse of the heavily Coldplay influenced pain and sorrow of Chris Martin similar to hits like The Scientist and Fix You.

The album is complete from start to end and is one of the best pieces of work we have had a chance to listen to so far this year. Get this in the hands of the right people and we have ourselves Denver's next biggest band.

Catching Up With Wildermiss

We are always on the lookout for new music, especially homegrown music. Seeing that we have been doing this this for awhile we can safely say we know good music when we see it. Such is the case with Wildermiss, the four piece "supergroup" has exploded onto the scene and we were fortunate enough to chat with the band on various subjects. Huge thank you to these guys for taking time to speak with us.

U5280: How did you all meet?

Wildermiss: A few months after Red Fox Run disbanded, Emma had her senior recital performance for CU Denver and asked her musician friends to perform with her. It was an amazing experience because it felt like a Denver Music Scene super group; members of Red Fox Run, Evinair, Overslept, and Avenhart all performed together for this show. After the show we quickly realized that we came across something unique. One thing led to the next and we created an entirely new project– Wildermiss.

U5280: How did the name Wildermiss come about?

Wildermiss: It quite literally came from missing out on the wilderness on a road trip. We liked Wildermiss because it sounds like wilderness but has a different meaning… Associating gender with wilderness but also has a longing for something wild and free. It is deep but still surface and there doesn't have to be a big head-trip meaning behind it. We like saying it too.

U5280: What bands or musicians would say are huge influences on your sound?

Wildermiss: Young The Giant, The Preatures, The National, The Beatles, Local Natives, Jet, Radiohead, Mutemath, Sylvan Esso, Twenty One Pilots, Phox, Half Moon Run, Coin, and many more.

U5280: Your song “Carry Your Heart" was produced by Joe Richmond, who is by far one of the best producers in Denver, what was it like working with Joe on this single?

Wildermiss: Joe is so great. He puts his heart into it. Carry Your Heart was our first song with a producer. We chose Joe and couldn't be happier with his ideas and the overall quality of our experience with him. We probably maybe definitely might have just finished tracking most of our first EP with this guy… Coming in Fall! ;)

U5280: Who are some of your favorite Denver bands and have they provided any words of wisdom?

Wildermiss: If we have learned anything about the music industry, it’s that nothing happens overnight and it takes a lot of work. We watch Denver artists like My Body Sings Electric and Brent Cowles consistently working hard to make it in this industry. It's so impressive and so important. It's definitely something we've believed in from the start.

U5280: You guys have a few dates coming up including The UMS, what can fans look forward to from that and going forward?

Wildermiss: We are constantly writing new music and working out new details in our live shows. Fans can expect to notice something different at each show as they watch us grow as artists.

U5280: Wildermiss is one of the hottest acts right in Colorado, any plans to extend your fan base here in the future? Festivals, tour, music?

Wildermiss: Aw shucks. Yes, we are currently planning our EP release late Fall with a few tours to follow.

U5280: Favorite restaurant in Colorado?

Wildermiss: Sputniks corn dogs for life! Also, Adelitas on South Broadway.

U5280: If you had to have one musician sit in and do a song with you who would it be and why?

Wildermiss: Paul McCartney because he is a songwriting genius and we would love to understand his perspective on songwriting.
