Baby Metal Invades Denver With An Epic Performance

BABYMETAL (Photo Credit: Robert Castro)

Walking upon the Ogden Theatre this past Friday one would have thought a band like Slayer or Iron Maiden may have been playing. The demographic ranged from grown men dressed in metal garb to young girls dressed in the latest fashion trends seen in Asia. Babymetal has been on our radar for a minute and they have toured with the likes of Lady Gaga, Metallica, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The live show is something to see as members of the group carefully choreograph every dance move backed by a heavy metal array of musicians(Kami Band). You are almost lost in the performance forgetting it’s an actual metal show for a second to admire the precision and amazing theatrics taking place in front of your eyes. Some may argue that the performance is a novelty gimmick when in reality it is a force of nature that has the band continuing to sell out shows all over the world.

We were pretty impressed by not only the performance but by the fan engagement during the show, not only were people banging their heads but we were dodging crowd surfers in the photo pit. If you ever get a chance to see Babymetal (BABYMETAL) do not hesitate…..trust us.

The National Showcase New Music During Back To Back Nights At Mission Ballroom

Matt Berninger of The National. (Photo Credit: Robert Castro)

The National has long been a band that has gotten better with time. Much of it doing with the amazing and talented band’s dedication to the art. With back to back nights at Denver’s newest venue Mission Ballroom, Denver had a chance to witness the bands glory. We got a chance to attend the second night and were welcomed with a warm and happy set from ALVVAYS (one of our favorites), Molly Rankin and company ripped through their set playing fan friendly hits such as “Dreams Tonite” and “In Undertow”.

We have had a chance to cover The National on many occasions and they have always delivered with an amazing production in the past. On this tour the stage was flanked by three large LED boards displaying various imagery including shots of the band backstage getting ready to take the stage.

The band played all new material with a few classics towards the end. Their latest album I Am Easy To Find has been getting rave reviews and fans got a chance to listen to those songs live for the first time. The reception was welcomed with cheers and applause as songs such as “Quiet Light”, “Oblivions” and “Hey Rosey” rang through the venue as the lighting gave life to each song.

The Velveteers Shine As They Embark On Their UK Tour

On Saturday The Velveteers kicked off their UK tour with a show in Denver at the Bluebird Theater. The venue was filled with fans eager to support this badass trifecta and wish them well on their tour. The eerie mood was easily set between the incredible stage design, created by Sierra Voss, and fog rolling out into the crowd. The stage was covered in candles and roses, five floating eyes, a handpainted banner, along with vintage TVs displaying hypnotizing clips of the band. Add all of that to the already impactful sound of The Velveteers and you were left with an almost out of body experience. Your eyes continuously move around the stage between the set design, Demi’s euphoric voice paired with her fluid guitar strokes, to wanting to watch John and Adrian complement each other’s drumming prowess. This has been a wonderful group to watch grow, and we’re definitely ready to see where they go from here.

The band is set to hit the stage again overseas on September 10th at Broadcast in Glasgow.

Collective Soul and Gin Blossoms Bring Nostalgia To Denver

This past Wednesday was quite a treat as the Gin Blossoms and Collective Soul respectively took to the stage at Mission Ballroom. This is the 25th anniversary tour for Collective Soul properly titled, Now’s The Time Tour. Both bands lit up the stage with their presence, constantly moving around with energy and flair; including some pretty amazing jumps from the mic stand by Collective Soul frontman Ed Roland. Mission was filled with all ages, gleefully singing along to the songs that many of us had the pleasure of growing up with. This was certainly a show to check off the bucket list, a much needed trip down memory lane.
