Electronic Duo MZG Set To Headline Lost Lake This Weekend!

Twin Brothers Zach and Charles Weinert form the DJ group MZG

Denver looking to get your weekend started real proper like? Look no further as we have your first stop on your calendar starting off with this Friday’s show from MZG at Lost Lake Lounge.

Electronic duo, MZG announces a headlining show at Lost Lake in Denver this Friday November 30th. The self-taught musicians and producers deliver bass driven, hip-hop influenced electronica while sharing a chemistry on stage that is natural and infectious. Tickets are now on sale and start at $10 on Ticketfly.

Twin brothers, Zach and Charles Weinert, spent many years working on separate musical projects, but in 2014, they relented to the inevitable and joined forces to create MZG. Shorthand for “monozygotic” (the scientific term describing identical twins), the name MZG describes the unique bond that only these two can understand.

After honing their craft together in their bedrooms in Jacksonville, FL, the pair began playing out for audiences. Thanks in part to features on Skrillex's Nest HQ compilations, they quickly became the go-to artists for national acts in need of a guaranteed party starter when touring the southern state. MZG's reputation for setting dance floors aflame saw them soon sharing the stage with like-minded acts such as GRiZ, Manic Focus, and Space Jesus, as well as earning residencies at Florida festival mainstays Suwannee Hulaween and Purple Hatter's Ball.

Recently relocated to Colorado, the brothers have wasted no time in making a mark, performing with respected state staples EOTO and members of Pretty Lights Live, as well as trendsetter Barclay Crenshaw. The undeniable energy the pair offer has MZG poised to bring their identical powers to ears worldwide.

MZG will be showcasing two new songs off their Twin Pack 2 (Phase Bound and Goose Neck) that just released and publicly debuted last month at Hulaween. The duo will also be playing selections from their 6-track EP, Buddy System.

Corsicana Deliver With Their First Single Quandary, New Album On The Horizon

Our friends at Corsicana have just released this beauty of a masterpiece for our listening pleasure. The new single “Quandary” from their forthcoming album Perennial (out 1/18/19) is set to a beautiful backdrop featuring an array of complementing sounds that fit perfectly with vocalist Ben Pisano’s ranging array of lyrical bliss. The song is arranged in a way that put the listener right in the line of fire of what the song is about, it’s as if everything is happening right in front of you and you are watching it play out in real time, only to realize the uncertainty of what just took place. Corsican is set to release their new album (tickets on sale now) just after the new year and we will keep you plugged on all the upcoming details. Stay Tuned.

Do you feel it too? When I pull you up the stairs, it’s the weight that’s yours to bear.

We burst into my room, we’ve caught the fear between our teeth, trapped it underneath the sheets.

You say “it’s best we never leave,” I think you’re feigning your relief.

Are you lost in the fervor? You’ll only push further.

In all the times you’ve had me stay over, I’ve never felt colder.

The fear tastes stale;

An old friend loiters in your home.

Feel my shame positioned like a weapon.

Can you hear it too? Our friends are at the door, seeking shelter from the storm.

They won't peer inside, cause they know you drew the blinds. Have you found your peace of mind?

We can't harbor our conceit in a sea of our deceit.

Denver darlings The Corner Girls have just blessed us with their newest single "Boyfriend". The trio of Breanna Ahlghren (Vocals/Guitar), Jessica Pulido (bass) and Maddie Pietruszka (drums) are easily becoming a staple in the Denver music scene with their over the top shows and unique sound they categorize as pastel punk. Trust us you need to come out to a live show!

The catchy song comes in at just over three minutes and has us dancing with pure bliss. An infectious hook and well orchestrated guitar play the song is definitely going on our Summer Jam playlist.

A love letter to those who have come across their path in the past, the jam is described by the band as..

"Boyfriend is the song that helped really hone into what our sound is, and was a real turning point in terms of our music. Thanks to all the horrible boyfriends we have had to endure, this one is for y'all."

The band is set to play Lost Lake tomorrow to help celebrate the release of the single which will be released on all platforms. We suggest you join us tomorrow night in what can only be described as a night full of shenanigans and great music.

Getting To Know: Porlolo

We have been loyal fans of Ft. Collins outfit Porlolo for sometime now, from their epic performance at last years UMS to their new recent project. The band is playing tonight at Lost Lake for their EP release, be sure to drop by and enjoy some amazing music.

Formed in Denver in 2002 by the eccentric and prolific Erin Roberts, Porlolo is a highly collaborative effort. A true labor of love, Porlolo has become a project of good friends finding peace and adventure through musical connection. Roberts--a self-defined sister, swimmer and stunt artist—is a powerful songwriting force, cranking out grungy, sometimes twangy, often pure pop hits. Over her last 15 years of deliberate wandering through Denver, Gunnison, Eugene, and most recently Fort Collins, Roberts draws inspiration from the dramatic landscapes and even more dramatic personalities she encounters.

Porlolo releases Awards EP on April 27, produced and engineered by James Barone (Beach House). Players include Tom Mohr, Anna Morsett (The Still Tide, Brent Cowles), Jake Miller (Esmé Patterson, The Still Tide, Brent Cowles), James Barone (Beach House), and Pat Meese (Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats).

Awards EP showcases Roberts’ thoughtful and playful songwriting, fully supported by the talent of her influential friends and bandmates. The EP combines indie rock and folk, amplifying Roberts’ songwriting with its delicate balance of rustic guitar, punchy percussion, and precision hooky riff. Says Roberts of her current lineup: “Porlolo has been an incredibly powerful force in my own life, providing equal amounts of sanity and absurdity, keeping it weird when life gets tedious, heavy and too adult.”

Porlolo discography includes What Would This Be For (2002), Storm and Season (2004), Meadows (2006), Pony Trekk (Split EP with Kate Magnus, 2009). In December of 2014, Porlolo released Everything, Barely (2014), a three song EP produced and recorded by James Barone (Beach House). Erin Roberts also released Fill Your Lungs (2012) with the Denver-based band Ending People. Porlolo has extensively toured the US, playing alongside Jessica Lea Mayfield, Cass McCombs, Destroyer, Magnolia Electric Company, Fleet Foxes, Phosphorescent, Two Gallants and more.
