Denver’s newest soul/pop act, Sarah & The Meanies, are set to release their new music
video , Slam Pam Suno, on YouTube/Vimeo Saturday, September 14. The video stars Meanies
frontwoman, Sarah Angela, as she faces off against part of the Denver Roller Dolls in a derby bout.
It’s only fitting that the video debut at a real life derby match on 09/14 at 1st Bank Arena with the
Roller Dolls. Sarah Angela will be singing the national anthem to kick off the evening and fans will
have a live screening of the new music video on the arena jumbotron.
Seattle/Portland-transplant, Sarah Angela, and her band Sarah & The Meanies, are set to release the
video for their single, Slam Pam Suno, on Saturday, September 14. Their EP of the same name
dropped earlier this summer (June 18) at their coveted set at Red Rocks Amphitheatre's summer series,
Film On The Rocks, opening for Mean Girls.
The backdrop of Slam Pam Suno brings us to an underground Roller Derby grudge match, where an
eclectic cast of characters have gathered to feast their eyes on the carnage. Sarah Angela and her
Meanies face off against archrival "Slam Pam Suno”, played by Jami Haber (Denver Roller Dolls) and
her team of devilish vixens. The first teaser for the video was released in anticipation of the September
14 debut. The video and teaser feature child prodigy, Ayanna Sudduth, singing the national anthem.
Sudduth was discovered by the video casting director via a Craiglist ad. Slam Pam Suno was directed
by Drai Lloyd, whose portfolio includes John Common & Blinding Flashes of Light, In The Whale, and
more of Denver's music elite.
Members of the Denver Roller Dolls make up part of the competing athletes in Suno, lending their
skills and expertise during training sessions with Sarah Angela weeks before shooting. The Roller
Dolls are Denver's premiere roller derby league and part of the fastest growing female sport. The team
has garnered such a following in Denver that they now host some of their matches at the 1st Bank
Arena. The dolls are set for a night of mayhem on September 14 at 1st Bank (Tickets: $10-$17 ,
Kids Under 12 FREE . 7PM). Tickets can be purchased online at TicketHorse or through various
outlets in town. More info can be found on the Roller Dolls website and Facebook. “Slam Pam
Suno” will screen between derby bouts and Sarah Angela will kick off the evening performing the
anthem. Angela has also sang the anthem before the Lakers and Portland Trailblazers in the past.
