Margaret Glaspy, Pearl Charles & The Still Tide To Headline Next Red Bull Sound Select Presents: Denver Showcase

Red Bull Sound Select is excited to announce the next installment of Red Bull Sound Select Presents: Denver, which will take place Friday, October 20 at The Bluebird Theater, 3317 E Colfax Ave. The live music showcase features headliner Margaret Glaspy and rising artists Pearl Charles and The Still Tide.

The show is 18+ and tickets are $5 for those who RSVP online at Red Bull Sound Select and $15 at the door without an RSVP.

This month’s showcase was curated by The Underground Music Showcase and features one headliner and two artists on the rise. Throughout the rest of 2017, the showcase visits different career-launching Denver venues and introduces an exciting lineup of artists to audiences.

Margaret Glaspy is a singer-songwriter based in New York. Having cut her teeth as a touring musician, Glaspy’s solo career began in earnest in 2012 with a sound that’s drawn nice comparisons to stalwarts like Elliott Smith, Liz Phair and Joni Mitchell. Having spent a few years perfecting her craft, her debut album, Emotions and Math which she self-produced, dropped last summer via ATO Records. The California-born musician hit the road hard behind her debut playing stages the world over in North America, Australia, China and Norway and sharing bills with the likes of The Lumineers, Andrew Bird and Car Seat Headrest. This marks Glaspy’s first CO performance in over a year.

Red Bull Sound Select alum Pearl Charles will support. This Los Angeles native culls her sound from a shimmering palette of Americana, southern blues, 70’s country and beyond to create a very comfortable kind of nostalgia. A touring musician since 18, Charles has been member of outfits The Blank Tapes and The Driftwood Singers, having shared the stage with the likes of Father John Misty, The Growlers and The Allah Las before embarking on a solo career in 2015. Her debut, self-titled EP followed in 2016 on Burger Records. Hear it here. With new music and the horizon and a very select set of live dates for the rest of 2017, her Denver performance is one not to miss.

Rounding out this exciting lineup are the Denver-based project The Still Tide. A creation of Anna Morsett and Jacob Miller who originally met while living in New York, the pair traded the big city for a move out west where a first Denver show band found the transplants opening for Angel Olsen at the tiny Hi-Dive. Country-rock swagger with a dusty open road freedom, The Still Tide’s third release, the EP Run Out was released in August via Greater Than Collective. Take a listen here.

DIANE COFFEE TO BE JOINED BY RED BULL SOUND SELECT ARTISTS SHADY ELDERS AND NED GARTHE EXPLOSION

Red Bull Sound Select -- an artist development program that works with the best curators in local music scenes to bring fans unique shows -– is proud to announce Diane Coffee will headline the December installment of the series at the Marquis Theatre with fellow Red Bull Sound Select acts Shady Elders and Ned Garthe Explosion opening up. The show is 18+ and is only $3 with RSVP here: http://win.gs/DecDen

We had a chance to see Diane Coffee last time they rolled through the Mile High City and it was probably one of the funnest show that we have covered. We also want to get crazy with a contest and send one winner and their gang (i'm talking 10 friends to come check out the show). Stay tuned to our Instagram for more info.

What could have been a throwaway side hustle by Foxygen drummer Shaun Fleming, Diane Coffee has become a nuanced throwback project that delves heartily into psych rock and the likes of T. Rex, early Queen and a little bit of glam thrown in there to boot. Shady Elders deserves your attention, combining a velvety pile of synth and dreamy guitars into a warm sound that will surprise you. Rounding out the night will be Ned Garthe Explosion, a sledgehammer of sound usually, but with new tunes on the way, you’re not going to want to show up late.

Music | SHOW ALERT: Dead Rocks Pre-Party | July 1st, Larimer Lounge

Denver, CO – On July 1, the night before Dead Rocks, Zeds Dead’s annual summer concert at Red Rocks, Hooks of Zeds Dead returns to Larimer Lounge to paint another one-of-a-kind mural for the venue. For a second year, the Official Dead Rocks Pre-Party will follow Hooks’ live painting at Larimer Lounge. The pre-party will feature a live DJ set by Hooks and DC of Zeds Dead along with some very special guests. Doors at 8 PM, Show at 9 PM.

To attend, fans must RSVP for free entry to: larimer.lounge.music@gmail.com. Please include full name. One RSVP per email.

A nod to the exploding street art scene in Denver’s River North (RiNo), Larimer Lounge has invited Hooks to create another mural to accompany the outdoor mural he painted last year. Over the past year, Larimer Lounge has continued to invite notable street artists and art collectives, such as SoGnar, to use the venue’s exterior as a canvas, turning Larimer Lounge into a street art centerpiece in RiNo. Larimer Lounge is thrilled for Hooks to create another electrifying mural on the venue’s back patio.

DC will join Hooks at Larimer Lounge that evening to play a live DJ set with special guests, celebrating their return to Red Rocks the following night. This year, Dead Rocks is poised to sell out and have its biggest year yet. The massive Dead Rocks performance also features Dillon Francis, Paper Diamond, Haywyre, Mija and Hunter Siegel.
