Our good friends In The Whale have been busy touring the country and as we mentioned last week will be playing at this years Lollapalooza. They just celebrated their new album this past week at a sweat soaked packed Hi-Dive crowd. Luckily for us we get the exclusive stream of the single "Radio" off the self-titled album. After all sometimes we need something new to listen to at the office with our pants off.
In The Whale | EP Stream Review and Tour Info
Our least favorite band in the world In The Whale have graciously released the follow-up EP for "Eric" with the appropriately named "Nate". The band will be busy in the next month or two playing a handful of shows (see below). If you haven't purchased your tickets to their upcoming two night residency at Hi-Dive with Austinites Residual Kid now is your chance, the show is set to sell out any day now!
The "Nate" EP is a straight dose of blues infused rock and roll goodness. I'm not a smoker but it makes you want to grab a pack of cigs along with the whiskey that grandpa keeps hidden and just wail out in nothing but your underwear. The 4 song EP is full of gritty guitar play and tight drumming that will make you sing along to each song. If you have ever attended an In The Whale show it is something they highly recommend. If you want to have the bejesus scared out of you crank up "Grandpa Pete" all the way up to 11 and pray that you will be able to sleep at night. All in all the EP is a well produced ditty with infectious tones and well balanced attack of rock.
The band is prepping the national release playing alongside Peelander-Z, Residual Kid, and Guttermouth in addition to additional shows all over the region. Here are the dates.
March 31 Grand Junction – Mesa Theater –with Guttermouth
April 1 - Greeley – moxi Theater - with Guttermouth

First Listen | In The Whale "Eric"
One of our favorite band of misfits In The Whale were gracious enough to let us preview their new 7 Inch album and to make things better we want to share it with you before anybody else. To sweeten things up a bit we have the last two pairs of "Golden Tickets" to their sold out album release show coming up Friday at Larimer Lounge. Now we could go on Stub Hub and scalp these tickets and buy new fancy camera equipment or the new "Hug Me" Elmo if we wanted, but since it's the holidays we want to give them away. We will be announcing a contest on Wednesday for these sought after tickets of goodness. Did we mention these are the last two pairs of tickets in existence?
After a 2013 that saw the band play Red Rocks, perform at festivals like SXSW and Treefort and tour the region, In the Whale unleashes Eric on the masses.
To celebrate the release of the band’s new 7” Eric, the band plans to hit the road in a couple weeks to introduce the south to one of the mile high’s best kept secrets. The band will close the year opening for Reverend Horton Heat at the Gothic on 12/30/13.
