The biggest weekend of collective Denver music is upon us! We’re always so proud of our thriving, supportive music scene here in Denver and we can’t wait to get dirty and sweaty on the streets of Broadway this weekend to discover new music and love on all our favorites. One favorite act we’re anticipating is none other than Kitty mutha fuckin' Crimes whose captivating and spirited live performances consistently vamp up every event. She was recently voted best hip hop artist (solo) by the Westword Music Showcase Awards. The rapping synth sensation is making a name for herself among the local hip hop scene and you know she’ll bring the heat at 5pm this Saturday at the Syntax Physic Opera. See ya out there, kids.

Bumbershoot Bound

As we travel across from festival to festival we love to embark on festivals we have never been to. One of the most successful festivals happens to happen around Labor Day Weekend in Seattle. Going strong since 1971 Bumbershoot has been a staple amongst the Seattle community for music and arts. With a stellar lineup year end and year out it's no wonder it has lasted as long as it has in today's music fest world were we see a number of fest fold and not stick around. This year we are excited to embark on this festival in September. With a lineup that boasts favorites such as Lorde, lime , The Roots, Dillon Francis and more we are in for a treat. The festival takes place on the grounds of the Seattle Center with its array of amazing scenery and vast amount of space.

Be sure to checkout their website for up to the date information on this years festival.

Dear Me, Starting To Feel At Home With New Album On The Way | First Listen

Discovering new music is what this site was built upon, we are constantly sorting through inboxes full of new material from musicians and bands all over the world. Our fondness for local music is always at the helm of our priority and from time to time we get to hear some of the best up and coming material before anybody else (perk #118). We got our hands on this song by Dear Me, who are planning on releasing their new album on June 10th of next month. The track Somebody Else conjures up the early days of Death Cab For Cutie with well crafted lyrics and harmonies that deliver the perfect emotions of the heartfelt song. The band plans to release their album Present Perfect on June 10th at Syntax Opera House. Information on that show can be found on the bands website.

"Somebody Else is maybe the first song that really made me feel like "Dear me," could work out as a project. Andrew and I had been playing as side men in a band, and playing the occasional gig as a duo, but it never amounted to much. Figuring out how to make our voices and guitars compliment each other on this song was really the first step towards taking our own music seriously. We recorded it mostly the way that we originally figured it out, with just Jamie Beekman's third harmony on top and keyboard underneath."
