The biggest weekend of collective Denver music is upon us! We’re always so proud of our thriving, supportive music scene here in Denver and we can’t wait to get dirty and sweaty on the streets of Broadway this weekend to discover new music and love on all our favorites. One favorite act we’re anticipating is none other than Kitty mutha fuckin' Crimes whose captivating and spirited live performances consistently vamp up every event. She was recently voted best hip hop artist (solo) by the Westword Music Showcase Awards. The rapping synth sensation is making a name for herself among the local hip hop scene and you know she’ll bring the heat at 5pm this Saturday at the Syntax Physic Opera. See ya out there, kids.

Red Bull Sound Select Curated by Holy Underground | Denver | Kitty Crimes, Inner Oceans, RUMTUM, Sigeto

Last night Red Bull Sound Select made their first official appearance in the Mile High City. For those of you unfamiliar with Red Bull Sound Select, it is:

Red Bull Sound Select is a long-term initiative that celebrates local music and the people that push it forward: hard working artists, passionate fans, and tastemakers that shape scenes. It’s part artist development program, part event series, part digital product, part partner network, all working together to bring artists and fans closer together to break music.

Local record label Holy Underground was the first curator to host the sold-out event at Larimer Lounge on Thursday night. With performances from Kitty Crimes, Inner Oceans, RUMTUM, and Shigeto, Denver music fans had a first chance to see some of the areas most talented musicians on one stage. The packed house crowd saw energetic sets from the above mentioned while delicious Red Bull infused drinks flowed from the bar. Being a veteran in the music scene and being able to partake in several Red Bull Sound Select events in the past, it was nice to see the hometown get a taste of such an awesome music initiative that will only continue to put Denver on the map. In fact fans don't even have to wait that long until the next Denver event taking place on March 25 as Welsh alternative rockers The Joy Formidable invade 3 Kings Tavern, with local favorites The Epilogues and Wire Faces. In the meantime make sure you check back as we will be embarking on Austin, Texas in the next few weeks for SXSW and will  be attending 4 Days in Austin, with established acts such as Earl Sweatshirt, Twin Shadow and Jagwar Ma (who both will be performing in Denver as part of Snowball Music Festival), Sleigh Bells and Danny Brown. It's a great time to be part of the Denver music scene all thanks to the people responsible for bringing us great entertainment and music courtesy of Red Bull and the local influencers who make our great city a place to enjoy music at its most creative and highest level.

Red Bull Sound Select Kicks Off In Denver This Thursday

Denver, CO, February 12, 2014—“Red Bull Sound Select Presents: Denver” is a new monthly live music showcase that highlights some of the city’s most exciting new artists. The event series, curated in partnership with Holy Underground, The Underground Music Showcase , Souls in Action & DJ Low Key will feature one headliner and three local artists on the rise. Each month, the showcase will rotate to a different iconic venue in Denver and will introduce an exciting new line up of artists.

The first two installments of Red Bull Sound Select Presents:Denver will be hosted by Holy Underground February 27 at Larimer Lounge and by The Underground Music Showcase on March 25 at 3 Kings Tavern. The February show, featuring headliner Shigeto and local artists: RUMTUM, Inner Oceans & Kitty Crimes is 21+ and over show starts at 8p. Tickets are free with RSVP here and $5 the day of the show at the door. The March showcase will invite headliner The Joy Formidible to the mile high city and feature local acts The Epilogues and Wire Faces. Fans can RSVP here for a special $5 ticket. Tickets will also be sold at the door for $12 without an RSVP, and is open to all 21+.

These monthly showcases are all part of the larger Red Bull Sound Select artist and fan development program, which launches this summer along with a digital platform, content formats, and a national live event series. More to come at redbullsoundselect.com
