GRiZ Electrified With His Multi-Dimensioned Live Band At Red Rocks

Grant Kwiecinski AKA GRiZ blew us away with his Live Band Performance at Red Rocks on Friday!   He assembled about a 15 person band including himself on the saxophone, his partner in crime Muzzy Bear on the guitar, surprise guest performances, back up singers, drummers of all kinds, multiple brass instruments and even a flute player! We had the pleasure of seeing them at their rehearsal the night before, but nothing prepared us for the production they put on at Red Rocks. The cohesion that all of these instruments had blended GRiZ's mostly electronic style of music with a more instrumental funk that had people dancing all night long!

Although GRiZ has been mostly absent on social media in the past few months, we could tell the second he stepped on stage that he loved seeing all of his devoted fans. We saw so many people wearing his merchandise that says things like, "Ain't bad, Always rad", "All we need is more love" and "Good will continue." These little reminders of spreading positivity and love were seen and heard all through out his live band performance as well!

Music | The Bluebird District Music Festival | Recap and Photos

This past weekend the streets of East Colfax played host to the first ever Bluebird District Music Festival. With over 100 plus bands spread out throughout the weekend at five different venues, it was a music lovers paradise for three days. We were able to capture some of the best moments of the festival including great sets by A. Tom Collins, Dragondeer, Edison, Rowdy Shadehouse, Toe and more. Even some surprised guest made an appearance like Michal Menert who jammed out during Amp Live's set and Griz who laid down sax duties during a raucous Sunsquabi set.

The festival seemed well organized, a huge feat when dealing with multiple venues and the crazy amount of bands. We hope that it can build off its first attempt and get bigger and bigger every year.

The Floozies | The Ogden Theatre | Review

This Saturday at The Ogden was definitely a night to remember. Colfax was buzzing outside the theater with people trying to score tickets to get into this highly anticipated sold out show. The nights opening act started out with Sunsquabi who played an energetic jam session that any live music fan would enjoy. Up next came a music producer who goes by the name Gibbz, he jumped on stage and damn near stole the show with his upbeat sound and incredible showmanship. I’ll be sure to keep a lookout for the next time this man is in town! Then around 11:30 The Floozies came on stage and the whole crowd blew up in excitement. The Floozies duo are made up of two eclectic brothers Matt and Mark Hill from Lawrence Kansas, and with Matt playing guitar and Mark carrying the beat on the drums these guys can put on a show that will get any ones hips moving. Their fresh approach to electronic music mixed with that old school funky sound kept the crowd loud and on their feet the whole night. Just when everyone thought the show was coming to an end, the unexpected happened, out of the shadows with his saxophone Griz got on stage and brought the show to a close with an incredible song that made the sold-out crowd go absolutely bonkers! Overall, I think it’s safe to say that everyone left the show satisfied, we were even met outside with six inches of fresh powder that had fallen in just a few hours during the show. If you’re interested in checking out The Floozies music, the band just released their new album “Do Your Thing” on January 27th and you can download it for free on their website at flooziesduo.com or on SoundCloud.
