CHROMEO ANNOUNCE "COME ALIVE TOUR"!

PREVIEW NEW SINGLE "COME ALIVE" FEATURING TORO Y MOI, ON SALE JANUARY 20TH

WHITE WOMEN COMING SPRING 2014 ON ATLANTIC

Almost a decade ago, the Canadian duo Chromeo introduced their unique blend of electrofunk to an exponentially growing global audience. White Women, Dave 1 and P-Thugg's 4th studio album coming this spring on Atlantic, refines their signature 70's and 80's influenced quirky pop songs, masterfully crafted in the tradition of the finest R&B, disco and funk. Montreal's reigning loverboys will be previewing their infectiously catchy new record, featuring previously released singles "Over Your Shoulder" and "Sexy Socialite", on the road this spring, along with playing some Chromeo classics from Business CasualFancy Footwork and She's In Control. The "Come Alive Tour" launches in Houston, TX in April and winds its way through the US and Canada, with a headlining finale US show at NYC's Terminal 5 in May - scroll down for full list of dates. Chromeo's live show has become legendary in its own right and this tour will mark just the first stop in many exciting live announcements to come for the band in 2014!

For all the retro talk, Chromeo's music is, more than ever, anchored in pop's present. This is reflected in the band's collaborative approach on White Women. They unexpectedly resurrected Death From Above 1979 as their backing band to perform "Sexy Socialite" on Late Night with Jimmy Fallonthey shot an epic album trailer with Parisian design firm Surface to Air to preview "Over Your Shoulder" and partnered with contemporary artists SnarkitectureMILK Studios & Tumblr to create The White Room installation in New York. The newest edition (pun intended) in an ever growing and exciting list of collaborators is Toro y Moi, featured on their buoyant new single,"Come Alive". "Toro is a new school funk disciple, like us" says the band. "Ever since we heard his music we wanted to unleash his inner Jermaine Stewart." This is disco Chaz in a way you've never heard him before - link below.

If the first line of this articlehas severely confused you, you have done yourself a disservice for the past fewyears.  P-Thugg, real name PatrickGemayel, on the keyboards, synthesizers, and talk box, along with Dave 1, realname David Macklovitch on guitar and lead vocals team up to bring a Hall &Oates meets electronica sound, which easily translates into one hell of a danceparty.

You can purchase tickets at www.ticketmaster.com and I would hurryup before it sells out!  For more aboutthe duo, visit their website www.Chromeo.net.

So please, friends, bring alongyour Tenderoni and get down to Chromeo with Ultra5280.

Westword Music Showcase: Review

The Summer music season has officially begun! In many ways the Westword Music Showcase is the launching pad for a season's worth of musical bliss around the mile-high.  This year we made our way to the 17th annual Westword Music Showcase in hopes of catching the next big thing out of Denver as well as some national acts we have all become familiar with.

Murder by Death at WMS 2011
We headed to the mainstage to hear Murder By Death, hailing from Indiana. We also had the opportunity to hit Vinyl for a rooftop DJ set in the afternoon. boyhollow was there, tearing it up as usual. We danced for awhile and then headed to City Hall to catch Pirate Signal and Air Dubai. Pirate Signal's set was cut off right at the beginning of their last song due to technical difficulties, but they spent a few mintues getting things back together and went out with a bang, seamlessly throwing down "I Can't Wait" for the local crowd. You can catch them at City Hall again this Friday for Global Dance Battle of the Bands as they compete for a performance spot at this year's Global Dance Fest.

Overall, this years Westword Music Showcase was a killer blend of local and national acts, bringing announced attendance of over 13,000. It is evident that this festival is starting to build steam; could a possible 2 day festival be in Denver's future? We will have to wait and see.
