So Gnar's Mixtape Monthly Coming To You From 2-Up This Thursday!

So-Gnar - Mixtape Monthlys – Thursday Oct 17th – @ 2up Denver

Need some new music to ride to for opening day? We gotcha covered with the new So-Gnar Guest Series October Mix-tape Release.

On Thursday October 17th, So-Gnar will be welcoming one of our favorite musicians from Denver, Julian Chvrch (of Air Dubai) to The 2up Video Arcade Bar for our next installment of So-Gnar’s Mixtape Monthly Release. Julian Chvrch will be performing a live set along with So-Gnar's family of DJ's, Producers and MC's Captain Safety, Alex Anderson, Furbie Cakes, Typhy and Guest Dj Raw Russ of Elm & Oak.  This event should be a fun evening of video gaming, So-Gnar Mixtape listening with live mural painting on the exterior of 2up. 

“We wanted to offer Julian a blank canvas.  He has an incredible imagination and we figured offering him this opportunity to create at free will and to experiment on this release, without any limitations would be a fun project to team up on and help him grow his fan base in the action sports community,” says So-Gnar’ founder Pat Milbery.

LIVE ART:  We also will have live mural art 2nd installment of 7 by local Street Artist "Dread" from the ICRKD crew. painting a mural on the outside wall.

DETAILS:  This event is 21+ and FREE to all kicking off at 8 p.m. to 12 p.m.  Drink specials will be offered from the very tasty Deep Eddy Vodka and PBR. So-Gnar will also be distributing a batch of complimentary Monthly Mixtapes and So-Gnar limited edition screenprinted posters available to those who support and attend.  2up is located on 717 Colfax Ave in the Capitol Hill Neighborhood of Denver, Colorado directly across from Argonaut Liquor Store.

Big Gigantic | Rowdytown | Red Rocks Amphitheatre | September 29

Dubbed simply as “Rowdytown”, Red Rocks Amphitheatre played host to a slew of talented musicians on Saturday night. Headlined by the duo from Boulder known as Big Gigantic, the night was full of dancing, raging, perputual drug use (I’m assuming, of course) and all out partying. This was our last show of the season at Red Rocks and what a way to go out. The night got started by strong DJ sets from ​Raw Russ, followed by the talented Griz. Next up was a DJ who has been tearing up the blogosphere and DJ circuit. In fact this dude probably has the best biography on Facebook one could ever ask for:

With that being said, he managed to play one of the stronger DJ sets I have seen all year. With no light-show or elaborate production, he got right down to business and hit us with an assortment of genre-bending remixes and masterful beats of all kinds. If you get a chance please make sure you catch the dapper Mr. Francis if he makes a stop in your town. Also hitting the stage was Colorado favorites, hailing from The Emerald City of Seattle, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. For some reason Coloradoans have adopted Macklemore as one of their own,  it was apparent this past summer during the Westword Showcase and Saturday night as well. The underground hip hop duo graced us with dance friendly numbers and energy that only fed the crowd for the nights headliners.

The night though truly belonged to Dominic Lalli and Jeremy Salken. With their customary beehive stage setup it was clear who the sold out crowd came to see. To enhance the listening experience they managed to do something never done before at Red Rocks. They lit up “Creation Rock”, and “Ship Rock” with full on projection mapping courtesy off Ghost Pixel. It was truly something to see these enormous rocks changing with visuals that complimented the “livetronica” sound. At one point an image of the Colorado state flag adorned the rocks driving the masses in to all out hysteria. Big Gigantic continues to grow right in front of our eyes. With an upcoming tour and performance at Austin City Limits next week, the duo will bring their Uprising Tour all across the states. 

Big Gigantic set to get rowdy at Red Rocks

The duo of Dominic Lalli and Jeremy Salken aka Big Gigantic (Boulder, CO) are ready to deliver one final punch to Red Rocks this Saturday evening. In what is simply dubbed "Rowdytown​," the talented duo will be joined by an all-star ensemble for a night full of music.  Kicking things off will be Raw Russ, Griz, Dillon Francis, and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis (for those of you who remember they rocked the Westword Showcase earlier this year). Word on the street is that they have something big in store...so big that it is something that has never been done before at Red Rocks.  Not to worry we will have a full recap and pictures of the nights festivities.
