SIA Snow Show | Apparel and Gear | 2015
Prior to braving the masses we opted for a quick pit stop at Denver’s beloved Linger. Their famous bottomless mimosas equipped us with an optimistic, unhealthy winning attitude. We were going to win that GoPro at 4pm, even if we had to pry it from a child's tiny fingers. It’s safe to say that after brunch we were feeling extra sassy as we sashayed into the Convention Center, cameras and notepads fastened safely to our sides. Upon entering our first thought was, “Holy sweet baby yeti, where do we start?” Our second thought was, “How do people get work done this weekend?” But ultimately the booze propelled us forward and it was off into the never, never land of SIA.
A List Of Our Favorites:
Best Ski Boot: Apex Men’s MC-2 Ski Boot
This boot topped our list due to its sheer versatility. Planning on snowshoeing this weekend? Tired of walking like you have a stick up your ass to the slopes? Or do you plan on snowboarding one weekend and skiing the next? The Apex boot is you answer; it transforms from a state of the art ski boot your everyday snow shoe.
Best Snowboard Binding: Union
This binding really wowed us. Its streamlined design provides a seamless boot interface with lateral freedom for maximum tweakage. In English: it had the best fit and ensured minimal boot slippage along with a smoother ride. Not to mention, it was super light weight and came in some awesome colors.
Best Outerwear: Neff
Neff has our hearts and ears when it comes to beanies. They surpass all competition with their simplistic approach to the winter staple. What surprised us this year was their outerwear collection. It was trendy yet functional and totally up our alley. If you’re looking for something that’s one-of-a-kind and new to the industry we suggest shopping Neff’s latest collection. After all, best dressed on the slopes is our main priority, second of course to nailing Danny Davis’s latest trick.
Best Goggle: Von Zipper
We were too busy flirting to take any meaningful photos of the goggles. But the latest from Von Zipper features frameless goggs with easy pop lenses (we just coined that term...™).
Best Glove: Grenade’s Boxing Glove
First of all, this glove is so warm it’s like putting on oven on your hand. Second of all, it’s probably the punniest glove we’ve ever laid eyes on. Close second to their Butt glove… see Instagram account @ultra5280 for a chance to win!
Best Helmet: Pret
Pret makes this list because their helmets far surpass anything we’ve seen on the market. With a new memory foam technology it not only warms your head, but insulates and protects from injury. A new cage inside the helmet moves with your head lessening impact upon falls. For spring skiing the ears can be removed along with a couple vents along the midline. The outer layer is a new age rubber technology that limits the amount of scuff marks your helmet will acquire.
Best Snowboard:
Nitro’s Mystique takes the first place ribbon for women’s snowboards. It’s gullwing technology will make this puppy float like a dream. It’s perfectly equipped for groomers, powder and park. It’s your take anywhere, do anything board.
