There's something magical about Red Rocks Amphitheatre. We have been lucky enough to see some amazing concerts over the years. What we enjoy the most is the reaction some musicians get when stepping out onto the stage in front of 9,000+ for their first headlining gig. The Arctic Monkeys hail from Sheffield, England and have been around for a good while now. We remember seeing a moppy haired frontman Alex Turner at SXSW what seems an eternity ago in front of what we presumably can safely say about 30-40 people. The band has come a long way since, with a strong album to cap off 2013 (It made our top album of that year). The band wasted no time Thursday night on a wet rainy night going straight into "Do I Wanna Know", from AM. The crowd automatically erupted as the bass drum intro kicked in and Turner with his dapper attire and sassy attitude provided an all out sing along heard miles away. The band played material mostly off of AM but included their claim to fame song "I Bet You Look Good on The Dancefloor", which many of the early teens probably didn't recognize. Other highlights were "Why'd You Only Call Me When Your'e High", "R U Mine" and love ballad "I Wanna Be Yours". The cold rainy weather didn't keep the crowd from having a good time, as the band seemed to feed off the energy as the night went on.
The band itself has reached tremendous accolades, we can only hope they maintain that momentum and continue to make great music to dance to. The band will continue to tour the rest of this year with a few festivals here and there and some dates overseas.
