Winter X Games | Aspen, Colorado | Recap and Photos
Phoenix entertains the X Games crowd at Wagner Park (Photo Credit: Robert Castro)
We had our chance to take in our first X Games in Aspen this weekend. Some of the world's best athletes descented upon Buttermilk Mountain for some great competion. We had some great surprises and some memorable moments all weekend. Aside from the games, fans got to take in X Fest at Buttermilk, where they had a chance to interact with some of the great sponsors on hand such as Monster Energy, Jeep, Phunkshun, and many more. Down the road at Wagner Park, the city played hosts to two great days of music featuring the likes of Matt and Kim, Phoenix, Axwell and Ti esto. The park was transformed into an all out dance party by fans. The games themselves went along with some memories that we will never forget.
Day one surely belonged to Colten Moore who took gold in Snowmobile Freestyle Finals. Moore, took to the Snowmobile Freestyle course going huge and proving to the judges why he deserved gold – and doing it all for his brother Caleb, who tragically passed last year. With strong tricks including a cliffhanger and superflip, Moore scored a 91.33 on his first run, taking an enthusiastic and emotional victory lap on his second. Joe Parsons showcased what he could do in the 75 seconds of a run, scoring a 86.33 and taking silver. Heath Frisby scored a 86.00 and a bronze.

The final day brought the X Games total number of spectators to over 108,000 that got to see Danny Davis take Gold in Men's Snowboard Superpipe. Davis pulled off a rather flawless run that edged out Louie Vito and Greg Bretz. Aways the staple event of the games, this year Superpipe favorite Shaun White bowed out of the competition to focus on the Winter Olympic games in Sochi in a few weeks. That didn't stop the crowds for packing in the base of buttermilk for the games; final event. All in all we had a great time and we are already looking forward to covering again next year.
