Denver Legends Bop Skizzum lay their horns to rest

Denver band Bop Skizzum has been one of the staples of the Denver music scene for over a decade, but this Valentine's Day they'll play this great city one final concert before laying their funk to rest.

Started as a college band by ex-Flobot Andy Guerrero, he never imagined the band would take him this far. As he says in the bands farewell note, "When I started this band, I had just started college at the University of Colorado at Denver. I didn’t know what I was doing. All I knew was that I loved funk music, and I wanted to bring people together to dance and have a good time." Bringing people together is exactly what Andy and this band has accomplished. Playing at nearly every venue across the state with a wide and eclectic array of groups as varying from Fishbone (yes, that Fishbone) to Blink-182 at Riot Fest, to Film on The Rocks at the legendary Red Rocks Ampitheatre. You can read the rest of Bop's touching and inspiring farewell message here, but their final thoughts focus more on how they'll be saying goodbye with music rather than words.

For the past three years, Bop Skizzum has been doing a springtime show called the Nerd Prom. Themed around (yes, you guessed it) a sweet mashup of nerd culture and retro Prom stylings, it's certainly fun for everyone. This all ages show every year is sponsored by Denver Comic Con, and emplores it's guests to dress up for the night in their best, and most nerdy of attire. Wether that be a cosplay, or your prom dress from 1999, it's a fun night for all, and one not to be missed. Tickets are available now, but going fast, so grab them while you can and help the Mile High city bid it's most funky of Funk bands "adieu".
