Authority Zero | Review and Interview

I had the wonderful experience of seeing Authority Zero play at The Marquis Theater in Denver this Sunday.  Furthermore, Ultra5280 got to interview punk legend Jason DeVore and we are so excited to let everyone see it!

The show was incredible, to say the least. Authority Zero has been in the music scene for over 15 years and still, to this day, sounds kick ass. This was the best show that I have been to all year.

Although there are several new members in the band, they are all excellent performers and extremely talented dudes. They managed to adhere to Authority Zero’s old sound while also bringing a freshness to the music. Their new album, “The Tipping Point” was just released in April and while it wasn’t quite identical to the old stuff, any O.G. Authority Zero fan would still love it.

The show embraced the essence of punk rock with tons of crowd surfing, the most violent mosh pit I’ve ever seen, and also, somehow, a sense of family. Authority Zero tried to get as many people on stage as they could. The crowd was absolutely wild. So much fun was being had that night in the Marquis! I was amazed to look around and see almost everyone singing along to the old songs. You could tell that everyone there connected with the music in some way. There aren’t many bands that can incite this kind of emotion in people anymore.

The most amazing thing about the night: Jason DeVore has still got it. After 20 years of owning the punk scene, he still knows how to come in and perform in a way that blew my mind. His energy is intense. His gratitude and passion are evident. Jason remains down to Earth and it is obvious that he still has just as much love for the music and fans as he did from day one. His charismatic and sincere approach to his performance is one that keeps fans coming back. He certainly is a punk rock legend. Prong sign!
