As Denver braced for a blizzard on Monday night, those taking refuge inside The Gothic Theatre were treated to an all out pulse inducing set by Canadian duo Purity Ring. The band left quite an impression the last time they visited our fair city, playing two sold out shows on the same day at The Larimer Lounge back in August. With their debut album well under their wing and nonstop touring, the duo of Megan James and Corin Roddick are currently touring in support of their album "Shrines".

Their live shows are something out of the ordinary, the stage is flanked by hanging cocoons resembling alien eggs that change colors to the electronic beats and organic rhythms. The table that Roddick uses for his beat controls are adorned with lanterns that function as lights when hit. The lanterns are synched to a synthesizer that gives the audience a visual spectacle that is not seen by any other band. (Check out this article for an in depth look at their unique stage)

As the venue filled with buzz the duo took to the stage belting out electro glitch pop beats accompanied by James's angelic vocals. The crowd absorbed every minute singing to hits such as "Fineshrine", "Belispeak", and their cover of Soulja Boy and Ester Deans "Grammy". Not a bad way to end the night as Denver embraced for some chilly weather. Check out more photos here.
