Divine Fits | The Bluebird Theater | December 14th
Divine Fits stormed into Denver last Friday night riding the much acclaimed accolades of their debut album “A Thing Called Divine Fits”. The so-called supergroup consisting of Dan Boekner (Wolf Parade), Britt Daniel (Spoon), Alex Fischel and Sam Brown (New Bomb Turks) gave the Bluebird crowd something to dance to. It was their third straight show in our state as they played in Aspen and Vail before coming to the Mile High City.
I was first introduced to Divine Fits by our sister blog in Austin, Ultra8201. In fact, their first show was played in Austin and they have been gaining speed ever since. With only one record under their belt, you would think these guys have been playing for years. It is rare to have alternating vocalist take reins on a single album; Divine Fits make it work as Daniel and Boekner both shine on this album. Even more exciting is when they do it live, each had a chance to showcase their true talent. Crowd favorites included “My Love is Real”, “Would That Not Be Nice”, and their rendition of the Tom Petty cover “You Got Lucky”. With a short two-song encore, they gave Denver a true rock and roll show that left everybody buzzing with praise. Hopefully they stick around and continue to make sweet music for our ears.
