Japandroids | The Bluebird | November 18th

A band that has always been on my radar, yet I always miss, has been Japandroids.  Hailing from Vancouver, the duo of Brian King and David Prowse graced the near-capacity Bluebird crowd on Sunday night with two hours of “celebration” rock, mixing punk rock and classic rock influences. With an awesome minimal light show of blue and white lights and silhouettes, the duo rocked a school night.

Playing hits from “Post Nothing” and “Celebration Rock” the crowd and band fed off each other’s energy making it an exceptional environment. No mosh pits, no screaming girls, just a group of like-minded people enjoying music together. Every band is known for their “signature” song and it was evident that “The House That Heaven Built” was it for Japandroids, as everyone sang along. The night’s opener, Swearin from Philadelphia, played an energetic set to get the early crowd warmed up. The tour will continue through early December, so mark your calendar for when they hit your city. Check out more photos here.
