“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”
This was a quote taken from his commencement speech at Stanford University in June of 2005. It is a quote that I often read over and over that inspires me to be who I am. We look at what we do here at ultra5280, we all use Apple products, whether it is writing our reviews on our Macbook Pros, taking interview notes on our iPad, capturing that Instagram shot on our iPhones, listening to that hot new track on our iPods, in a true sense we could not do what we do if it wasn't for your vision and for a company whose products we truly could not function without. I still remember my first iPod, it was the first Apple product I owned, it was also a time when I could take my whole music collection with me anywhere. Everyone one of us has a similar story and can relate. Being a music site it amazes me how something like the iPod and iTunes has revolutionised the industry. Being a photographer, it is not always guaranteed I will get a photo credential to many of the shows we cover, not to worry I have my handy iPhone with me. I was recently at a Bright Eyes concert in El Paso, Texas and saw somebody in the audience taking video on their iPad to relive that concert at anytime, it was amazing to think how we have embraced technology.
I speak for us all here at ultra5280 and can safely say we will miss you boss! We get a chance to call ourselves co-workers at Apple, but most importantly best friends outside of work. Thank you for bringing us together and inspiring us to do what we love in and outside of work.
"Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do." -Steve Jobs
