Jordy’s Barbecue: Texas Style Barbecue On Wheels
Denver barbecue has always been a topic of discussion. While many connoisseurs argue that there’s a lack of good barbecue, we’re starting to see a resurgence of former backyard enthusiasts sharing their creations. An influx of food truck barbecue options has emerged around town, each trying to claim the title of the best. We had the opportunity to check out Jordy’s Barbecue, which is described as Central Texas-style. We weren’t initially convinced to try out their truck, but we’re glad we did.
Great barbecue showcases the holy trinity: delectable brisket, mouthwatering ribs, and flavorful sausage, all complemented by traditional sides. The mobile food truck, operated by David and Jordan, roams various locations on weekdays and weekends. Their schedule is shared on Instagram. David graciously allowed us to sample their substantial offerings.
A well-cooked brisket is the centerpiece of any barbecue establishment. Jordy’s brisket was tender and well-seasoned with an unbelievable flavorful bark. Their motto, “slow and low,” is evident in their well-balanced array of options. The maple-glazed ribs stood out with their balanced flavor of smoke and hint of maple. Jordy’s sausages, made in-house, were particularly noteworthy, especially the roasted serrano and Oaxaca cheese, and the jalapeño cheddar option.
An array of complementing traditional side dishes, including smoked pinto beans, mac and cheese, potato salad, and delicious elote, rounded out our visit. Most barbecue places take a while to establish themselves in terms of menu offerings and the quality and taste of their food. However, Jordy’s has managed to hit on all in just one year of existence.
