With the big SIA (SnowSports Industries America) Convention about to invade Denver, a who's who of companies, athletes, and musicians will make Denver their own playground this weekend. We have done some detective work and have got the scoop on most (if not all) the biggest parties in town. We also have some great concerts in town from Ellie Goulding to RJD2. We will be crashing some of these parties so follow us on Instagram (ultra5280) to see what kind of shennanigans we are up to.
Getting things started are the crew at K2 presenting, what is now becoming a tradition, their annual K2UESDAY at The 1UP.
Once again the K2 Snowboarding in the Rockies Krew is bringing K2UESDAY! to The 1up. We will be kicking off the beginning of SIA week here in Denver. Once again we will be playing "Games for Gear" so bring your Skee Ball, Pin Ball, Jenga and gaming skills down on the 24th. We will have prizes from K2 Snowboarding and Planet Earth Clothing. Spread the word to ALL your friends, let's kick the week off bigger than ever. We will have drink specials all night as well as random free drinks from the Krew. 686 Lights Out, a charity boxing event with the industry's finest, returns with boxing, bro's and brews during SIA on Thursday January 31, at Casselman's Bar and Venue in Denver, CO. Come watch professional snowboarders and industry insiders step in the ring for three rounds of hard hitting action to separate the men (or women) from the boys, all in the name of charity. "I feel like if you get asked to box, you need to step up. This is what being a part of our industry is about and what sets us apart. If you say no you will always wonder 'what if?' The people who I see shine are the ones who can't help but step into the arena, whatever it is and come as it may." proclaims Steve Klassen, founder of Wave Rave Snowboard Shop and one of the night's contenders.
Guest referee Danny Kass, and host Dingo, will be be on hand making sure contenders come out fighting and keep things somewhat clean, while a panel of pro shreds will sit as guest judges and determine the victors. "I'm excited to see all of our industry under the same roof doing something old school," said Dingo. "Everything today is so overhyped and produced, I'm just excited to be a part of Lights Out and see some blood!"
The night will kick off at 8PM sharp and also include the exclusive premiere of the 2013-14 snowboard video teasers. "We are excited to see the card forming. People are coming out of the their usual safe settings and putting their pride on the line for a good cause," said Brent Sandor, 686 Director of Marketing. 686 Lights Out is presented by Electric and will feature sounds provided by Skullcandy as well as 2013-14 video teasers by kidsKNOW. AEG Live and Icelantic are teaming up for the second installment of Winter on the Rocks. 2012 marked the first ever winter concert at one of the world’s most iconic venues, Red Rocks Amphitheatre. SNOWDOWN SIA 2013 is an 18-and-up nightlife event that takes place Saturday night during the SIA Snow Show. The annual concert brings the best of the snow sports industry under one roof for a frosty night of the freshest hip hop, trap, dubstep and Top 40 mashup sounds, live art and special guests. In addition to Baauer & MGK, the 2013 lineup includes underground hip hop and bass producer M!NT, Raw Russ of Elm and Oak and local DJs on the Got Bass Stage. DJ Largechild will take over the ones and twos in the VIP area with host Cavem Moetavation.
SNOWDOWN caters to the talent, brands and industry leaders attending SIA, while creating an opportunity for the greater Denver community to become part of the SIA experience. A portion of SNOWDOWN’s proceeds will benefit “Protect Our Winters” thanks to TheRidersProject.com.
