Band of Horses w/ Road Kill Ghost Choir | The Ogden Theatre | April 8th

On Monday night, a sold out crowd gathered at The Ogden Theatre to listen to the whimsical pop folky music of Roadkill Ghost Choir and Band of Horses.  The temperature was dropping outside, but there was a strong folk rock heat being conducted inside.

Roadkill Ghost Choir kicked off the night with songs from their recent Quiet Light E.P.  Andrew Shepard (Vocals/guitar) sings of poetic times past. Having influences and sounding like a combination of early Wilco and My Morning Jacket, RGC's brand of Indie/folk/rock sounds familiar, but quite good none the less. The crowd was swaying and bobbing heads to tunes like "Beggars Guild" and "Devout". Roadkill Ghost Choir was a great opener for Band of Horses and I would expect more good music to come from this band in the future.

Monday was day one of Band of Horses Spring Tour. Opening the show and saying "It's been a while since we have been on tour, let's see how this goes", Ben Bridwell (multi-instrumentalist/vocals) was able to get the crowd excited as he opened with "The First Song."  Right from the get go Band of Horses played with an abundance of high enthusiasm and energy. The set list consisted of a good mix of all four of their albums, as the crowd enjoyed and sang along to many songs. Band of Horses opened their tour right, by bringing their country-rock sound to Denver and blowing away the crowd. Check out more photos from the night here.
