Austin City Limits Music Festival | Preview

With the music festival season winding down, we were fortunate enough to have received media credentials to this years Austin City Limits Music Festival. The festival itself held in Austin, Texas is a culmination of a festival created from the success of a well recognized television show of the same name. It started out in 2002 as a two-day event and has now grown to a three day event over the last few years. I was fortunate to attend the festival back in 2005 and still recall seeing  Arcade Fire for the very first time. Just like any other major festival this year the organizers expect to see well over 70,000 people this weekend. Headliners grabbing the spotlight this year include The Black Keys, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Avicii, Jack White, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Iggy and The Stooges. With 130 acts on the lineup, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

For this festival we are going to try something a little different, normally I would be in the photo pit capturing awesome images. This year we will be documenting everything with our iPhone. From pictures to video, it will be captured spontaneously and on the fly. Aside from the festival itself, the after parties are always packed and host some awesome performances. Info on the Official After Shows can be found here. Also be sure to RSVP to the two events below if you are going to be in Austin.

Looking at this years lineup, I started making a list a few weeks ago of who I wanted to see and what time slot conflicts I would be encountering, needless to say I think I figured it out. Below we are listing our must-see's for each day.

Day One | Friday: First Aid Kit, Weezer, A-Trak, LP, Black Lips, Esperanza Spalding, The War on Drugs, M83, The Afghan Whigs, Avicii, Ben Howard and The Black Keys

Day Two | Saturday: Caveman, Zola Jesus, Wheeler Brothers, Father John Misty, Metric, Space Capone, Michael Kiwanuka, Big Gigantic( Boulder represent!!), The Roots, Bassnectar, Jack white and Neil Young and Crazy Horse.

Day Three | Sunday: The Eastern Sea, Kimbra, Stars, Gary Clark Jr., Tennis, The Civil Wars, Two Door Cinema Club, The Lumineers, The Weeknd, and Iggy and The Stooges.

Also on a side note, we will be attending our first ACL Live taping Sunday night with Jack White himself, not a bad way to end the weekend. Stay tuned for a full recap of the festival later next week.
