Jennifer Lee, primarily known as Tokimonsta in the music world, lit up the sold out Bluebird Theater Saturday night. Producer, DJ, and angel, this gal has talent that goes beyond most of our own. A talent that she managed to recover after brain surgeries in January of 2016 for a rare condition called Moyamoya, took the artist’s ability to speak, understand, and make music. Her newest album, Lune Rouge, was done post-recovery, and makes me revel in her talents even more.
In front of a pretty simple half circle of lights and projections, Tokimonsta played all her hits, along with a nice variety of bangers she knows go over well. My personal favorite, “It G Ma” by Keith Ape, remixed by your girl, has been present all 4 times I’ve seen her, and it slays every time. “Go With It” ft. MNDR is also a damn jam that I always recommend to someone trying to get their first taste of her. Between the hip hop, trap, and electronica that Jennifer Lee plays, you know the dance floor is having a wonderful time, and as far as DJ’s go, she is pretty consistent with her showmanship, as well as her energy level. A strikingly cool girl, she has a taste that goes all across that board, which as an attendee is really wonderful to see and experience.

The new album, Lune Rouge, is set to be released the 6th of October, so keep an eye out for some personal work, including wonderful features by Yuna, Isaiah Rashaad, Joey Purp, and Selah Sue.
