Mayhem Music Festival | Red Rocks Amphitheater | Review

From time to time we love to let our hair down and partake in some good old fashioned head banging. Heavy Metal is rarely covered here in the Mile High City, fortunately we love to get down to the ear piercing, body rattling, mosh pit havoc when we get a chance. We like to consider ourselves lucky in the sense that we have our own David Burke holding down this genre for us! This guy bleeds metal 24/7, we sent him to Red Rocks to cover this years Mayhem Music Festival for us once again. Check out his review and awesome photos.

This years Mayhem festival brought headliners KoRn and Avenged Sevenfold with Asking Alexandria, Trivium and Body Count featuring Ice T along for the ride. Unfortunately I was only able to catch the last 2 acts KoRn and A7X.

They played all classics and hits, no deep cuts for this fan since ’95. But I was not disappointed as hearing these tracks in the hallowed Red Rocks Amphitheater was truly something special. Lead signer Jonathan Davis still has his deathly demonic growls as well as his mesmerizing highs.

Closing was Avenged Sevenfold and their huge stage set which had flares, lasers and concussion blasts that made your ears hum. Very personable to the crowd lead singer M.Shadows stated he was very honored to play at this special place. They came out with everything they had and the crowd responded. From the classic mullet wearing rockers to the young metal heads everyone was head banging! My personal favorite Bat Country, was executed to perfection and they kept it going from there.

Very happy and tired (and a little sore) means it was a great evening for me!
