2017 may have been a rough year to watch, but in terms of new music and rising artists it was a truly outstanding year worth listening to! The 60th annual Grammy awards are live this Sunday, January 28th 2018 and we at Ultra5280 are here to bring you a few of our Grammy predictions!
Best Live Grammy Performance
We have a feeling that the ladies will steal the show this year. Sza, Cardi B, Gaga, Kesha, Lorde and many others are scheduled to perform. Who run the world?!
Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Album
As a team full of Kendrick lovers were gonna have to predict DAMN will be the record of the year, album of the year, and the best rap album of the year with HUMBLE as the best rap performance! The hundreds of kids in the line at the Broadway pop up shop this summer would probably agree too. Kendrick has really shined this year and we're foreseeing with his recognized nominations that he will be awarded incomparably!
Song Of The Year
As annoying as this song has gotten, we think Despacito will take the gold.
Best New Artist & Best R&B Performance
Sza. Obvi. She's more than proven herself as a distinguished R&B goddess. We would bet money on this wins!
Best Pop Solo Performance
Kesha's song 'Praying' beyond wowed her Animals and the rest of the world if we do say so! If they had a Grammy for best comeback of the year Kesha would easily take that home too! Welcome back, woman!
Best Pop Duo/Group Performance
Even though Portugal. The Man is faaaaaar from a 'new' band we're glad they're finally being recognized. If you didn't grind your behind to 'Feel it Still' you're lying or don't have a soul. Congrats on the nomination, Lords of Portland!
Best Pop Vocal Album
Rainbow vs. Joanne. We can't decide.
Best Alternative Music Album
Editor in Chief Castro's pick!
Best Dance/Electronic Album
Odessa's 'A Moment Apart' has won us over! We saw them at Bumbershoot and Decadence this year. Pure magic!
Best R&B Song
We gotta go with the charts on this one! Predicting 'That's What I Like' performed by Bruno Mars. Oh snap!
(As we know there are many more categories, these are the highlighted awards we're looking forward to the most!)
