Music | Wildling, Young The Giant at The Boulder Theater | November 17, 2015

We were so excited to be at the Boulder Theater this Tuesday to see Young the Giant perform the last leg of their Mind Over Matter tour. Selling out both Monday and Tuesday, we knew this show was going to be electric, and we certainly did not leave disappointed.

The openers for the evening was a newly formed band from Los Angeles called Wildling. They got picked up by Young The Giant by cosmic chance: a baby band only formed in 2014, one of the members of YTG happened to be in the audience at their very first show, and *boom* - tour offer. After a whirlwind beginning to 2015 including a debut at SXSW and a residency at the acclaimed LA venue The Satellite during January, Wildling’s first tour ever seems to be making waves. Their performance showcased a unique energy they posses and we're sure they'll be making quite a splash in the music scene as they move forward. With only three tracks available on Spotify and their website, their live show is truly the only way to get a good feel for all the band has to offer. Tracks “Hummingbird” and “Change Your Mind” are a good taste that leaves you curious for more. We’re anxious to see this band the next time they come to Colorado, and how they’ll grow between now and then.

Even though it was the final show of their tour, Young The Giant came out looking like they just got started. Lead singer Sameer Gadhia was showing some quality steez with his colorful sequined jacket, and the band played with all the energy and electricity we’ve come to love out of these performers. We haven’t seen Young The Giant in Colorado since they performed at KTCL’s “Not So Silent Night” at The 1stBank Center in 2013, so seeing them again in such an intimate venue was a great change of pace. Playing set staples such as "Cough Syrup","My Apartment" and ended the show with their explosive hit "My Body”, we were honored to see these guys play at the Boulder Theater, and will gladly welcome them back when their next adventures permit.
