X Games Austin, Just Around the Corner | June 5-8 | Preview

The countdown is on. In just five days, the X Games will be taking over Austin's Circuit of the Americas for four days of badass action sports and even better music. On Thursday, June 5, X Games will take over downtown Austin for a free event that includes its highly anticipated Skateboard and BMX Vert competitions afront the Capitol—then, featured by Myspace, Holy Ghost! will put on a sure-to-be dancey show at Austin's famed ACL Live Moody Theater on Congress Street—also free.

Thursday, June 5th's events include:

5 p.m. Tony Hawk & Friends Demo
6:30 p.m. Skateboard Vert Round One
8 p.m. BMX Vert Final
9 p.m. Skateboard Vert Final
10 p.m. Myspace Presents: Holy Ghost!

Beyond this year's BMX, skateboarding, 4 wheels, joust, and other extreme sports, there's a badass lineup to look forward to. Of particular anticipation: Friday's mid-day DJ set by Five Knives, Austin's very own Black Pistol Fire, and event caps by Dillon Francis and Pretty Lights (full band); Saturday's The Black and White Years, Mac Miller and Kanye West; and finally, Sunday's closing which includes Austin's Emily Wolfe, My Jerusalem and Gary Clark Jr.,  along with the Flaming Lips headlining that evening.

We'll be on the ground shooting the sports events and gettin' rowdy in the crowds (especially at Pretty Lights!). Stay tuned for photos, stories, fantastic dance moves. Follow our Instagram and be on the lookout for post-coverage stories. In the meantime, check out the official promo video below.
